Many of our members located within the city limits of Simpsonville have come to us in recent days and weeks to discuss how the City's FY 2017-2018 Budget draft will adversely affect your businesses. The most notable area of concern centers around the City's plan to terminate trash removal services for businesses within City limits. Presently, the City provides those services on a regular weekly schedule to roughly 300 businesses. If the current budget draft is approved, those services could end and businesses will become responsible for securing independent service providers. This change would go into effect on July 1, 2017.
As part of our efforts to pursue a more amenable solution to all parties involved, we are co-hosting a forum to generate productive conversation and hopefully find some alternative options. Mayor Janice Curtis and City Administrator Eddie Case will be present to join the discussion. Any Chamber member business located within the City limits is welcome to attend. Join us on Tuesday, June 20th at 10:00am at the Senior Activity Center.
